A Timeline of The Google Panda Update

Google’s Panda Update arrived with a bang in February 2011 and has caused many webmasters headaches with its various updates since.

Panda was released in an effort to reduce the amount of duplicate and low quality content that was appearing in search results. The aim was to prevent spammy sites succeeding in Google, but the update also caused many ‘legitimate’ websites to suffer as well, with many online businesses having to cut staff after severe traffic drops.
Following the original update, there have been many further iterations of Panda, each tweaking the algorithm or simply refreshing the results. These updates have given sites the chance to recover if they were hit by the earlier updates, but has also taken additional sites down as the algorithm continues to be tweaked.
